Cape Coral Burrowing Owls
Don't Hoot
After 20 years of working with the Burrowing Owls of Cape Coral, I decided to write a book about them. There are several cute children’s books written about them, but there was nothing written about, what they eat, how they live, where they live or how they fly. So I decided it was a good thing to have reference book about the owls.
To set the record straight, I am not a biologist, I am a registered nurse. I only included topics in this book that I felt comfortable writing about. For example, there is nothing in the book about their nervous system as that is a very deep topic. The respiratory system in an owl is unique in that the interior of their bones have air sacs that work in conjunction with their lungs. This too was way too complicated for me to write about.
But the rest of the book are the things I have learned about the owls first hand, or have researched in order to gain a greater understanding of this magnificent bird.
I will be writing blog posts that will cover each chapter in the book without giving away the information in the book. I hope you will purchase the book. Part of the proceeds from the book go to support Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife and Cape Coral Wildlife Trust.
